Instructions

Step 1

You can find out about the amount of RAM in this way. Right-click on the My Computer icon. A context menu will appear. From this menu, select the "Properties" command. After that, a window will open in which there will be information about the amount of the computer's RAM. This method has one drawback. If your system has more than four gigabytes of RAM and you are using a 32-bit operating system, then only four gigabytes or less will be displayed.

Step 2

You can learn more about the amount of RAM using a special application that allows you to find out not only the amount of RAM, but also the type and frequency of its operation. To do this, you need the CPU-Z program. Download it from one of the many software portals on the Russian Internet. It is completely free. If the version of the program you downloaded requires installation, then install it on your computer. Most versions of CPU-Z do not require installation and run directly from the folder.

Step 3

Run the program. After launching it, go to the Memory tab. A window will open with information about your RAM. The Size line displays the total amount of RAM, the Type line - its type.

Step 4

Next, go to the SPD tab. Click the arrow icon in the upper left corner. A list of slots to which the RAM strips are connected will appear. When you select the slot number, then in the window you will see complete information about the memory module that is installed in this slot. Thus, you can find out very detailed information about each of them.

Step 5

If you select a slot and the information screen is blank, it means that no modules are installed in the slot. Accordingly, when upgrading a computer, an additional memory bar can be installed in it.
