Recovering damaged Microsoft Outlook data is carried out using a special tool, the Inbox repair program, which can fix problems without switching back to the original copy. The program is included in the Microsoft Outlook installation package and does not require a separate installation.
Instructions
Step 1
Quit Microsoft Outlook.
Step 2
Click the Start button to enter the main system menu and go to Run to invoke the command line tool.
Step 3
Enter value
drive: / Program Files / Common Files / System / Map / LanguageCode / scanpst.exe, whereLanguageCode is the language identifier (LCID) of the Microsoft version (Russian language identifier - 1049), in the "Open" field of the application window for recovering.pst files.
Step 4
Click the OK button to execute the command.
Step 5
Enter the file name and path to it in the "Enter file name" field.
The name of the damaged file and the path to it are contained in the error message that caused the restore operation:
“Unable to expand folder. The set of folders cannot be opened. The file contains errors drive: / Documents and Settings / user / Local Settings / Application Data / Microsoft Outlook / Outlook.ost. Close all email applications, and then use Inbox Repair.
Step 6
Click the Options button to change the logging options during scanning, and select the Change Log or Append checkbox to save the log file in the same folder where the.pst file is saved.
Step 7
Click the "Start" button to complete the scan operation.
Step 8
Wait for the scan to finish and select the "Back up file before restoring" checkbox.
Step 9
Click the "Restore" button to confirm the operation.
Step 10
Wait for the message about successful file recovery and start Microsoft Outlook using the profile that contains the recovered PST file.
Step 11
Select Folder List from the Go menu to search for Recovered Personal Folders (empty) and Lost & Found (Contains recovered folders and items).
Step 12
Create a new.pst file in the Recovered Personal Folders folder and drag items from the Lost & Found folder into it.
Step 13
Delete the Recovered Personal Folders (.pst) file that contains the Lost & Found folder from the profile.
