Some users diligently try to find information about disabling the Start button in Windows operating systems. In fact, it is almost impossible to do this, because the developers assumed to start working by pressing this button.

Step 1
The maximum that can be done is to hide the taskbar itself, on which the button is located, or remove some items from the current menu. To do this, you need to open the Start Menu Settings applet. Right-click on the menu and select Properties.

In the window that opens, go to the "Taskbar" tab and in the "Taskbar design" block, check the box "Automatically hide the taskbar". Then press the "Apply" and OK buttons sequentially. The current window will automatically close, and with it the menu bar. To call it, it is enough to move the cursor focus to the bottom of the screen.

If this is not enough, it is recommended to change the settings for displaying items in the menu. To do this, you need to go back to the properties of the menu and on the "Start Menu" tab, select the style ("Classic" or "Standard"), and then click the "Customize" button.
Step 4
Standard Start Menu. The first tab "General" is used to configure the main parameters that are used most often: the size of the icons and the number of displayed programs.
Step 5
To clear the block of the last running applications, click on the "Clear" button and change the counter value to zero using the lower button with the image of a triangle. To hide the programs with which you can access the Internet and check mail, you must uncheck the corresponding items.

Click on the "Advanced" tab. Here you can make absolutely all items inactive. But keep in mind that for some lines a simple click on the checkbox (a square with a checkmark) is enough, for others you need to select the option "Do not display this element". Click the OK, Apply and OK buttons in sequence to close the open windows.
Step 7
Classic Start Menu. Everything is much simpler for this menu style. To delete some blocks, after pressing the "Configure" button, select the "Delete" item, mark the necessary elements and click on the "Delete" button. In the dialog box that appears, answer in the affirmative by selecting the "Yes" button. Close the settings windows by clicking OK twice.
