The paging file (also called virtual memory) is used by Windows to store data that does not fit in RAM. Usually Windows itself sets its optimal size, necessary for most tasks. However, if you have applications running on your computer that require a lot of memory, you can increase the amount of virtual memory.
Instructions
Step 1
On the "My Computer" icon, right-click, in the menu that appears, select the "Properties" item

In the window that opens, select the item "Advanced system settings"

In the "System Properties" window that opens, on the "Advanced" tab in the "Performance" section, click on the "Settings" button.

In the "Performance Settings" window that opens, go to the "Advanced" tab and in the "Virtual memory" section, click on the "Change" button

The Virtual Memory window appears. By default, the "Automatically select paging file size" checkbox is checked. After unchecking this checkbox, a number of parameters become available for change, which we will consider more closely. In the "Paging file size for each disk" group, you can select the drive where the paging file will be located (by default, the file is located on the C:) drive and below using the switch, select one of three options:
"Specify size" - set the size of the paging file in megabytes (MB), "Size at the choice of the system" - the system itself will choose the optimal size, "No swap file" - the system will work without a swap file.
After selecting a disk and one of the options for setting the size, press the "Set" button. In the "Total paging file size on all disks" group, you can see the minimum paging file size on all disks, the recommended Windows size and its current size.
