Step 1
Download the Ubuntu disk image to your computer. Burn its image to disk using Nero or Alcohol 120% programs, please note that the recording options should indicate the creation of a multiboot disk.
Step 2
Make sure you have enough free space on your hard drive to install the Ubuntu operating system. If necessary, create a special partition for its installation in a free part of the hard disk using the GNOME Partition Editor utility (https://sourceforge.net/projects/gparted/files/gparted/).
Step 3
Shut down your computer by inserting the Ubuntu boot disk into the drive. Turn on your computer. Press the Esc key while booting and select boot from the floppy drive from the menu. You will see a new window, select “Start or Install Ubuntu” in it.
Step 4
Select the operating system language from the list that appears. If you are installing Ubuntu for the first time on your computer and have not previously dealt with it, it is best to configure the Russian interface. Click the “Forward” button to continue the installation process.
Step 5
Wait while the installer copies and unpacks the Ubuntu operating system files. First select the hard disk partition to which you will be installing. It is best, of course, to use different volumes for different operating systems, but if this option is not convenient for you, you can perform the installation in the partition that already contains the installed Windows XP.
Step 6
If you have Ubuntu installed on your computer and you need to install Windows as the second operating system, insert the multiboot disk into the drive and restart your computer. Complete the installation by booting from the CD. Select the disk partition where you will install Windows. Follow the instructions in the menu, configure the time zone, language support, interface language, create an account.
