Instructions

Step 1

Before you start configuring the network in Windows Vista, check the user that you logged in with when you boot the computer. To perform any kind of customization, you must be an administrator or other user who has been given privileges. Click the Start menu, then select Control Panel. In the window that opens, select the "Network and Internet" section and click the "View network status and tasks" link.

Step 2

You will see the "Network and Sharing Center" window. Click the "Manage network connections" link in this window, or click the "View status" link opposite the connection name (usually a local area network connection).

Step 3

In the window that opens, click the "Properties" button. In the "Local Area Connection - Properties" window that opens, uncheck the "Internet Protocol Version 6" item, but activate the older version - "Internet Protocol Version 4", then click the "Properties" button.

Step 4

In the "Properties: Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP / IPv4)" window that opens, activate the switch on the "Use the following IP address" and "Use the following DNS server addresses" option. In the "IP address" and "Default gateway" fields, specify the following values: 192.168.х.х (replace the "x" characters with the values specified in the contract for the provision of services by your provider). If such values are not present in the contract, therefore, it is worth activating another option - "Use IP-address automatically". The subnet mask is set automatically. DNS server addresses for each provider are individual.

Step 5

To test the created connection, you need to launch the Internet Explorer browser. Click the "Service" button and deactivate the "Work offline" item. In the address bar of the browser, enter ya.ru, if the Yandex search engine has loaded, therefore, you have correctly configured the network.
