A boot image is a virtual copy of a program or game CD. All its difference from an unpacked disc is that the installation files, called distributions, are stored in a single file in the "ISO" format.

UltraISO and Daemon Tools

Instructions

Step 1

In the first step, the beginning is worth noting that a virtual CD / DVD-ROM is required to read the boot images. To install it, just download the shareware Daemon Tools program from the Internet. It is good because its free functions are enough for mounting virtual boot disks. After installing the program, you need to restart your computer.

Step 2

Special software is also required to create boot images. There are many such programs as, for example, "Nero" or "Ashampoo", but the simplest of them, and moreover, is free, is "UltraISO" The program allows you to create an "ISO" file - ie. a boot image from a disc currently in the CD / DVR-ROM of the computer (a copy of an existing disc), or allows you to create the same image from a folder with files copied from a disc.

Step 3

If you need to unzip and burn the resulting ISO file to a blank disc, use the same “UltraISO”. Select "Burn disc from file" and browse to the ISO image file. And if you want to run a virtual disk on your computer, after removing the physical disk, launch “Daemon Tools”, which icon will appear in the clock tray on the Windows toolbar. Right-click on it and find the "Mount Image" item in the context menu. Click and select the file with the boot image through the explorer. After this operation go to "My Computer" and you will see a new CD / DVD-ROM with a virtual disk.
