Many users, if they need a USB flash drive with an OS, turn to UltraISO. The program is easy to use and allows you to make a bootable disk for most laptops and computers from any ISO image and flash drive. There are three main ways.
Features of creating a bootable ISO image
All that the user needs is an OS in the form of an ISO image (any OS will do), an empty flash drive and the UltraISO program. To form a flash drive, do the following:
- Launch UltraISO.
- Select "File" - "Open" from the menu.
- Specify the path to the OS file in ISO format and open it
- In the UltraISO menu, click on the "Boot" item, and then "Burn hard disk image".
- Using the "Disk" field, specify the path to the USB flash drive to which the ISO image of the operating system will eventually be written. Also, if necessary, you can pre-format the USB flash drive.
- Select a recording method. The best option would be to leave the method specified by the program by default - this is the USB-HDD method.
- Click on Record.
After completing all these steps, the user will receive a USB drive prepared for work.
Creating a USB flash drive using a disk
You can create a USB flash drive for installation not only using ISO, but also using a regular optical CD / DVD disc with the OS installation distribution on it. To do this, select the "File" menu and select the "Open CD / DVD" item, and then specify the path to the disk that contains the files necessary for the OS.
All other actions required to create a USB flash drive with an OS will be similar to the actions from the first method - you need to select the "Boot" menu and "Burn hard disk image". That's all - you just have to click on the "Burn" button and wait for the end of this process.
Creating a USB stick using OS installation files
There is another option. For example, the user does not have an ISO image of the OS and disk, but the PC has a folder that contains all the files needed to install the operating system.
In order to make a bootable USB drive from these files, you need to click on the "File" menu in UltraISO, and then select the "New" item and click on "Bootable CD / DVD image". After that, the program will open a window with a selection of files and folders to download. The required file is located in the boot folder and it is called bootfix.bin.
After selecting the file, select the folder in the lower working part of the program that contains all the necessary files of the OS distribution kit, and then move the contents of this folder to the upper right part of the software.
If a blue indicator appears at the same time, this indicates that the new image is overcrowded. In this case, you need to choose a size of 4.7 GB.
That's all, now the user only needs to perform the same actions and commands in UltraISO as above, that is, click on the Bootstrap and Record hard disk image items. After that, all that remains is to use the bootable USB flash drive that appears.
