Step 1
Use special players that support certain types of subtitles, for example, BSPlayer video player supports *.srt and *.sub formats. Install one of the codecs from the sites https://www.tac.ee/~prr/videoutils/ or https://vobsub.edensrising.com/vobsub.php. These codecs will give you the ability to customize subtitle support and accept different types of scripts
Step 2
Rename the subtitle file, it should be named the same as the video file. Move it to the same folder with the video file to include a subtitle. To watch videos with subtitles on a DVD-player, you need to install a special firmware with support for subtitles on the player. Alternatively, redo the video file, insert subtitles directly into the video stream.
Step 3
Download and install the Crystal Player program from the website https://crystalplayer.com/. Run the desired video file, connect the required subtitles. To do this, press the key combination Shift + O, right-click in the player window, select "Open subtitles", then specify the path to the subtitle file. You can customize subtitles using the same command. The program allows you to perform the following subtitle settings: close subtitles, automatically load subtitles, set translucency, shadow and fade out, select a font and color for subtitles
Step 4
Configure subtitle support on the Linux operating system. To do this, use the Xine player or Mplayer, you can download them, respectively, from the following links: https://www.mplayerhq.hu/, https://xinehq.de/index.php. Install Mplayer, for this write the command sudo aptitude install mplayer in the terminal. Next, go to your home folder, open the "View" menu, select "Show hidden files" and check the box there. Next, go to the mplayer folder, open and edit the config file as follows: subcp = "cp1251"; subfont-text-scale = "3"; subfont-blur = "8"; subfont-outline = "8"
Step 5
Download the win font from the site https://www.webpagepublicity.com/free-fonts-t.html, then copy it to the folder with the player, write font = "/home/your_login/.mplayer/your_font.ttf" in the configuration file. If subtitles do not work, go to the program settings, change absolutely all encodings to cp1251. Then restart the system.
