When working on a computer, it is the keyboard that is subjected to the greatest stress, which can gradually lead to its inoperability. While it is easy to replace the keyboard on a regular desktop computer with a new one, in laptops, repairing it becomes a rather serious problem.
Necessary
- - awl or hook;
- - conductive glue "Kontaktol".
Instructions
Step 1
In the overwhelming majority of cases, the keyboard breaks down if liquids are spilled on it or if debris gets under the keys. It is advisable to repair a regular keyboard only if it is still quite new. As a rule, such a keyboard is easily disassembled and there are no special problems with its repair. The situation with laptops is much more complicated, this is the option that will be considered.
Step 2
If you spill something on the keyboard, immediately turn off the laptop with the shutdown button, unplug it from the mains and remove the battery. The best option is to immediately take the computer to a service center, since if you repair it yourself, there is a great risk of permanently ruining the keyboard. But if you are confident in your abilities, you need to disassemble it immediately.
Step 3
Dismantling the vast majority of modern keyboards begins with removing the keys. Before starting work, do not forget to take a photo of the keyboard so that when assembling the keys correctly, or redraw their location. Then try removing one of the rarely used keys using a suitable tool such as an awl or crochet hook. The keys are fastened with special latches, so you need to understand from which side you need to pry the key and where to pull it so that it comes off. As soon as it turned out to remove one key, remove the rest in the same way.
Step 4
There are rubber washers under the keys. Carefully remove them: those that are filled in, put them in warm water with added dishwashing detergent. Put the flooded keys there too. After removing the keys, remove the mounts on which they were installed (lifts). Slightly rock one elevator to the sides, see how it attaches. Take it off, then take off the rest. Filled elevators are also sent to a container with water.
Step 5
You can now easily disassemble the rest of the keyboard. Your task is to get to the films with conductive paths applied to them. Usually there are three films: two with tracks and one between them, providing the necessary gap and preventing the short circuit of the conductors. Contact is possible only in the places of holes in this film.
Step 6
Assess the condition of the films. If a small amount of liquid has been spilled and it is not damaged, dry it and reassemble the keyboard. If moisture has entered the film bag, they will have to be separated and washed. Handle films very carefully! Perhaps there will be problems with their separation, since they can be glued together into a single package. In this case, you will need a hairdryer and scalpel. Use a hair dryer to warm up the adhesive and separate them with a scalpel. Work carefully as the conductors are very thin and easy to break.
Step 7
After separating the films, rinse them in cold water, but do not rub the tracks under any circumstances - you will simply erase them. Dry the films for a day, then check the condition of the tracks with a tester. If there are breaks, restore them with Kontaktol conductive glue, you can buy it at a car dealership. Dry for a couple of hours, check the health of the tracks again. Then assemble the keyboard.
