A situation may arise when a user of a personal computer needs to view various properties of folders located on a hard disk. Indeed, it is in these very properties of folders that such settings as the visibility and hiding of folders, icons and pictures of folders that can be displayed instead of the standard yellow icons of Windows folders, and much more are found. It is also in the properties of the folders that you can select the item of information compression, which will save such precious space on the hard disk, which is always so lacking.
Instructions
Step 1
On Windows XP:
Open My Computer. This can be done either by double-clicking on the icon on the desktop, or using the Start menu, or by pressing the Windows + E keyboard shortcut.
In Windows 7, Vista:
Open "start", then select the "control panel" section. Here you will see the settings for your computer settings by category.
Step 2
On Windows XP:
Use the Windows Explorer tree navigation to find the folder whose properties you want to view, or even change.
In Windows 7, Vista:
Click on "Appearance and Personalization" or you can open the top in the drop-down menu "view" instead of "category" select "large icons" or "small icons".
Step 3
On Windows XP:
Left-click on the folder whose properties you want to view (that is, the folder you were looking for in the second step of this tutorial).
In Windows 7, Vista:
In the window that opens, find the "folder options" section and left-click.
Step 4
On Windows XP:
In the context menu that appears after clicking, you need to left-click on the "Properties" item, which is located at the very bottom of the folder context menu. This will open the folder properties window.
In Windows 7, Vista:
The opened folder options affect all folders in the system.
