Step 1

To hide the description for folders, open any folder on your computer and select Tools from the top menu bar. In the drop-down menu, call the "Folder Properties" command by clicking on it with the left mouse button. A new "Folder Options" dialog box will open.

In the window that opens, go to the "View" tab and remove the marker from the fields responsible for displaying information about the folder when you hover over it with the mouse cursor (for example, "Display descriptions for folders and desktop items"). Click the "Apply" button for the new settings to take effect, and close the window using the OK button or the X icon in the upper right corner of the window.

If you want to hide your folder, right-click on its icon, select Properties from the drop-down menu - a new dialog box “Properties: [your folder name]” will open. Go to the "General" tab in the window that opens and put a marker in the "Attributes" group opposite the "Hidden" item. Click on the "Apply" button and close the window. Your folder will become translucent.

Step 4

Open the properties of (any) folder in the manner described in the first step, on the "View" tab, use the scroll bar to move down the list. In the "Hidden files and folders" group, set the marker in the field opposite the line "Do not show hidden files and folders". Apply new settings, close the window. After that, the folder will still be on the computer, but will not be visible until you set new settings.

To open a hidden folder in the future, set the options for showing hidden folders (set the marker in the properties window next to the item "Show hidden files and folders") or use the search function. To do this, call the "Search" command through the "Start" menu. In the corresponding field, enter the name of the folder, in the additional parameters, put a marker in the field “Search in hidden files and folders”.
