In the process of processing images taken in cool weather, one has to deal with the need to correct the shade of reddened skin. This can be done with a mask and selective color correction.
Necessary
- - Photoshop program;
- - Photo.
Instructions
Step 1
Load the image into Photoshop using the Open option on the File menu. Use the Selective Color option in the New Adjustment Layer group on the Layer menu to add an adjustment layer to the photo.
Step 2
In the Colors list of the filter settings that will open, select the Reds item. While monitoring the color change on the reddened area of the skin, use the sliders to reduce the amount of black and magenta. Adjust the rest of the shades so that the processed fragment acquires a natural look. You can ignore what is happening with the colors in all other areas of the picture.
Step 3
Instead of Selective Color, you can use the Hue / Saturation option in the same group. Select the Reds or Magentas item from the Edit list in the filter settings, depending on which components prevail in the edited area. Change the hue and saturation of the color using the Hue and Saturation controls.
Step 4
Click on the mask of the adjustment layer and apply the Invert option from the Adjustments group of the Image menu. The filter will disappear and the mask will change from white to black.
Step 5
Restore the effect of the adjustment layer to the reddened skin area. To do this, lighten the mask above it with the Dodge Tool, selecting the Shadows item from the Range list in the Options Panel. If you accidentally lighten the mask more than necessary, darken it with the Burn Tool.
Step 6
Another way to remove redness is to correct the image in the color channels. Create a copy of the image using the Duplicate Layer option on the Layer menu and open the Channels palette.
Step 7
By clicking in turn on the blue and green channels, you can notice that the redness looks like a dark area. Lighten this section carefully in both channels. Treat the canal first, in which the reddened area stands out more clearly. You can check the result of the correction by turning on the RGB channel.
Step 8
For a realistic image, blend the original with the corrected version. To do this, switch to the layers palette and decrease the value of the Opacity parameter for the modified image.
Step 9
Save the retouched photo as a.jpg"
