A scanner is a device that allows you to create an exact copy of a graphic object. Typically, this object is typed text on a piece of paper. Scanners began to be used everywhere with the emergence of the need to scan photographs, texts and other objects.
Instructions
Step 1
The history of the creation of this device began in 1857, when the abbot Giovanni Caselli invented a device for transmitting an image over a certain distance - then it was called a pantelegraph. As a result, we have an improved technology that has the same principle of image transmission.
Step 2
In terms of its properties, the scanner is similar to a copier, i.e. copier, the only difference is that it prints directly to a file, not to paper. Since the advent of digital photography, scanners have become less used by photographers, but schoolchildren and students have again increased the popularity of the device as they often have to scan various manuals.
Step 3
When choosing a scanner, you need to rely on several important points, for example, its optical resolution. Many personal computer users claim that the higher the value, the better. It is, but in some cases it makes no sense to buy equipment with high parameters if they are not needed at all. Therefore, decide for what purpose you are going to use it.
Step 4
A maximum resolution of 600 dpi is sufficient for scanning texts and other printed materials. Higher values are only needed to create large sized photo copies or slides.
Step 5
The second most important parameter is the scanning speed. Everything is simple here: the higher the speed, the better, respectively, the price of the device becomes higher. Unless you scan 100 sheets a week, there is no point in taking a high-speed scanner.
Step 6
After purchasing the scanner and connecting it, it should automatically turn on when a signal arrives through the USB port. Lift the scanner lid and place the item to be scanned on the glass. Click the scan button. After warming up the device itself, the movable lamp will begin to illuminate the object, the reflection from which will fall on the light-sensitive matrix.
Step 7
By default, the image is saved to a computer in RAW format, and then, depending on the parameters selected by the user, it is converted to another. To work with texts, the professional package of the Adobe Fine Reader program is most often used.
