Some users prefer a TV over a standard computer monitor. This allows you to slightly expand the capabilities of your computer, turning it into a full-fledged multimedia station.
Necessary
video cable
Instructions
Step 1
First, select a pair of connectors through which you will connect the TV to the computer. This can be done using the visual analysis method. Just find the identical ports on your TV and computer graphics card. If there are no such connectors, then check the availability of the following pairs: VGA-DVI, DVI-HDMI and VGA-HDMI. The last pair of ports can be connected using two adapters.
Step 2
Purchase a video cable and the correct adapter kit, if necessary. Now connect your computer's graphics card to your TV. It is better not to turn off the standard monitor yet. Turn on your TV and PC.
Step 3
In the TV settings, be sure to indicate the connector that you connected to the computer. Designate it as the main video receiving channel. In the case of an HDMI connection, the audio signal will also be received through this port.
Step 4
Now set up your computer's graphics card. If you plan to use only the TV, then simply unplug the monitor by unplugging the appropriate cable. Usually, the preference is given to the simultaneous use of a standard monitor and TV. Open the Control Panel menu.
Step 5
Go to "Appearance and Personalization". Now open the item "Adjust display settings" located in the "Display" menu. First, select the monitor that will be the main one. Remember that initially all games and applications will run on it. This is very important because the TV is usually used to watch videos, not to run a game on a big screen.
Step 6
Highlight the desired display graphic and activate the Make this screen primary function. Now turn on the Extend This Screen feature. On the secondary display, all shortcuts and toolbar will disappear. To launch an app on a secondary display, simply drag it outside of the main screen.
