If a speaker is out of order, this does not mean at all that you need to throw it away and get a new one instead. You can try to fix it. There are several main causes of speaker breakage and a few basic methods to fix them.

Instructions

Step 1

Determine the cause of the speaker failure so that you can repair it. The main causes of breakdown can be clogging, a breakthrough of the diffuser, a breakthrough of the membrane, separation of the coil contacts from the speaker cone, failure of the magnet (led by the magnet), combustion of the winding. In some cases, you can repair the dynamics yourself, in some it is better to take it to a service center for warranty repair (if possible) or purchase a new one.

Step 2

Pay attention to the sound of the speaker. If there are any extraneous noises, rustles or hum, then perhaps the cause of the breakdown lies precisely in the malfunction of the diffuser. Unscrew the fixing screws, remove the speaker from the speaker case.

Step 3

Remove it carefully so as not to damage the contacts that lead from it to the protective circuit with a frequency filter. To make it easier to restore the speaker, unsolder these contacts from it.

Step 4

Inspect the diffuser for breaks, holes, etc. Also pay attention to the membrane, or rather to its integrity. If there are breaks, use a piece of medium weight cloth. It is important that it be flexible. Use a sticky glue (super glue won't work). Seal the breakout.

Step 5

Inspect the speaker-to-coil interface. Take a cotton swab, dip it in alcohol, and wipe off any dirt on the back of the speaker, as it can also negatively affect its performance. Check the integrity of the contacts going from the speaker cone to the coil.

Step 6

If they are cut off, solder them to the remaining contacts, or lengthen and fasten again directly to the diffuser. To do this, use a fine sewing needle and fine thread. After you sew the contacts, glue them with glue of a viscous consistency.

Step 7

Check if the speaker works. Turn it on at low volume, gradually increasing it. If, upon reaching a certain volume, it stops playing or begins to wheeze with a whole diffuser and membrane, then, most likely, the coil winding has fallen off. It is very difficult to rewind it yourself because of the huge number of turns that will have to be wound manually. Think it might make sense in this situation to just buy a new speaker.
