When making exact copies of audio discs, you should use programs that can be run by a variety of users. For example, making a high-quality copy, splitting into tracks, sound leveling, etc. If the music files were formatted with simpler utilities, most likely, the result of the work will be on the weak top three.

Necessary

  • Software:
  • - Notebook;
  • - Exact Audio Copy.

Instructions

Step 1

Not all utilities are capable of splitting a file with the ape extension to automatically split it into tracks when creating a copy of a disc. Thus, you can listen to the disc on your computer, but you will have to choose a specific track at random. Therefore, such programs have to finish the work.

Step 2

Open "Notepad": click the "Start" menu, go to the "All programs" section, in the "Standard" folder, click on the icon of the same name with the image of a notebook. To open a file that contains shortcuts to the composition, click the top menu "File" and select "Open" (keyboard shortcut Ctrl + O).

Step 3

In the window that opens, specify the location of the file with the cue extension. If the required file is not found in this folder, select "All files" in the lower drop-down list. For example, select the file In Flames - Colony (1999).cue and click Open.

Step 4

Use search (keyboard shortcut Ctrl + F) or manually find the line that begins with the word FILE. Next you will see the name of the album, change In Flames - Colony (1999).ape to In Flames - Colony (1999).wav. Close the open file, remembering to save it.

Step 5

All further work will be related to the Exact Audio Copy program, which can be downloaded from the following link:

Step 6

After starting the program, click the top menu "Tools" and select "Split wav-file according to Cue Sheet". In the additional menu, specify the parameters at which the file will be split into tracks.

Step 7

Open files with cue and wav extensions through the utility, for example, In Flames - Colony (1999).wav and In Flames - Colony (1999).cue and start the splitting process. After a while, in the source folder, you will see several files of the required format (Embody The Invisible.wav, Ordinary Story.wav, etc.).
