But dad is watching football, and mom is watching a TV show, and the son's requests to free at least one TV are answered: "You have a laptop, go play something."

But you can easily find a way out of this situation. It is enough to purchase a relatively inexpensive device for a laptop, and we can assume that a third TV has appeared in your family. Such a device is called an external USB tuner. As the name implies, it connects to a laptop via a USB socket. These tuners are often slightly larger than flash drives. How to connect and configure such a tuner? Let's look at the example of the BeholdTV Wander model.

Despite its small size, this tuner has very good characteristics. It can receive both analog and digital signals. There is also standard radio support for these devices. The tuner is equipped with the GIAI (Galvanic Isolated Antenna Input) system, which protects the antenna input from electrical damage. This usually happens when you connect the antenna cable to an ungrounded computer.
Step 3
It is advisable to connect the tuner to a laptop via a USB adapter. The rigid antenna cable will tend to "unscrew" the tuner from the socket, which will obviously not contribute to its performance. The device comes with a CD-disk with BeholdTV software, MPEG-codecs from InterVideo, a universal DVD-player from the same company.
Step 4
Installing the driver for the tuner is absolutely quick. Plug the tuner into the jack. Then the system recognizes the device and prompts you to take certain actions. You can agree, or you can use the standard Behold installer.

By default, the settings of the BeholdTV program are made in such a way that during simple viewing you will hardly ever come across most of the settings, but the knowledgeable consumer will be offered an additional list of possibilities.
