If earlier the system requirements for a video game indicated only the amount of memory that a video card should have, now a series of video cards are being written with which the game is compatible. Therefore, before buying a video game, you should make sure it is compatible with your graphics adapter model.
Necessary
- - a computer with Windows OS;
- - AIDA64 Extreme Edition application.
Instructions
Step 1
You can find out which video card is installed on your PC in several ways. The first is through standard operating system tools. Right-click on an empty area of the desktop. A context menu will appear. If you have Windows XP, in the context menu, click on "Properties". If your OS is Windows 7, select "Screen Resolution". In the window that opens, click on "Advanced options". A window will open in which you can view information about the model name of the installed video card and the main characteristics.
Step 2
You can also use this systemic method. Click Start. Select All Programs, then Accessories. In standard programs, select the command line. At the command prompt, enter dxdiag. Hit Enter. In the window that opens, go to the "Screen" tab. In the upper left corner there is a section "Device". There you can see information about the installed video card model.
Step 3
If, in addition to the model, you also want to know the detailed characteristics of your video card, then for these purposes you need to use an additional program. Download the AIDA64 Extreme Edition application from the Internet. Install this program to your computer hard drive. Reboot your computer.
Step 4
Start AIDA64. After scanning the system, you will find yourself in the main menu of the program. In the right window, click on the Display option. Then select "GPU" from the list of devices. Detailed information about the installed video card will appear. The model name is written at the very top, in the GPU Properties section.
Step 5
In addition to basic information, you can view complete information about the characteristics of the video card: find out the type of memory bus, processor and memory frequency, bandwidth and many other parameters. At the bottom of the window there are links to the developer's site, updating the BIOS of the video card and drivers.
