Some programs, groups of files, or even operating systems are not stored in zipped archives, but in the form of a CD or DVD image. To read these files, you need to use special utilities.
Necessary
Daemon Tools, Alcohol
Instructions
Step 1
There are several programs available to read and create disk images. First, install the Alcohol app. Select the version of the program that matches your operating system.
Step 2
Run the program. Click the Search Images button or Image Finder. Browse to the folder where the required disk image is located. After finding the required file, right-click on it and select "Add to list".
Step 3
Open the list of used images (main menu of the application). Right-click on the desired image and select "Mount to device". Specify one of the existing virtual drives.
Step 4
Open the "My Computer" menu using Explorer. Your virtual drive will be located among the lists of local drives and drives.
Step 5
Use the Daemon Tools utility as an alternative program. If you do not need to create images, and your main goal is to read existing files, install the light version of Daemon Tools Lite.
Step 6
Run the program. Click the Add button, which looks like a disk with a plus sign. Specify the location of the image file and double-click on it.
Step 7
The file you have selected will be displayed in the "Image Catalog" menu. Click on it with the right mouse button and select "Mount". Select one of the existing virtual disks.
Step 8
To write an image to a disk using the Daemon Tools Lite program, click on it with the left mouse button. Click the Burn with Astroburn Lite button.
Step 9
If you need to burn a disc that will boot before entering the operating system, for example, a Windows installation disc, using an existing image, install the Iso File Burning program.
Step 10
Run the installed application. Specify the path to the image file and click the Burn button.
