Steam is used as a service for downloading and installing licensed computer games. Despite the fact that the service is focused mostly on buying and downloading games via the Internet, the installation of your game can also be done from a disk. To do this, you need to do several operations in the Windows system.
Instructions
Step 1
Launch the Steam client using the Start menu or Windows desktop shortcut. After downloading the program, left-click on the item "Library". Opposite the name of the desired game, right-click "Delete" and confirm the operation. Once the local game has been removed, you can install your game from disk. If the game was not preinstalled on your computer on Steam, you can skip this step.
Step 2
Insert the first disc of the game into your computer's drive. Close Steam using the Steam - "Exit" button. After that, on the keyboard, hold down the Win key combination (with the Windows logo image) and R to launch the command line. You can also call it using the menu item "Start" - "All Programs" - "Accessories" - "Command Line".
Step 3
In the window that appears, enter the following query:
“C: / Program Files / Steam / Steam.exe” –install E:
In this command, replace the letter E with the name of your drive in the system. To find the correct letter, go to the "Start" - "Computer" and look at the name of your drive. Hit Enter. After that, you will see a Steam window, which will display a notification about the start of the installation from disk.
Step 4
If you are experiencing problems installing the desired game from disc on Steam, please contact the service support service with a corresponding request. To do this, go to the official support page of the resource and use the Contact Steam Support form.
