If you misconfigure the local disk settings, it can be difficult to access these objects. Sometimes this problem appears after reinstalling the Windows Seven operating system.
Instructions
Step 1
First, try changing the owner of a specific local drive. Turn on your computer and log on to the operating system. To do this, use any account that has administrator rights. Open Windows Explorer (My Computer menu).
Step 2
Find the icon of the local drive that you cannot access. Click on it with the right mouse button and select "Properties". After launching the new settings menu, open the Security tab.
Step 3
Click the Advanced button located at the bottom of the menu. Open the "Owner" item. Review your current disk access settings. Click the "Change" button.
Step 4
Now select the "Administrators" group with the left mouse button. It must include the account for which you open access. Activate the option "Replace owner of subcontainers and objects" by ticking the required place. Click the Apply button.
Step 5
Confirm the start of the process of changing the owner of the local disk. Restart your computer after completing the described steps. Open each folder in the root directory of the local drive one at a time. Confirm changing the settings for accessing the specified folders.
Step 6
Try changing the owner of a non-system hard disk partition using the command line. Open the start menu. Type cmd in the search bar and press Enter. Naturally, these manipulations must be carried out using an administrator account.
Step 7
After opening the console, enter the command takeown / f D: / r / d y. This example changes access for local drive D. If you need to change permissions for another partition, enter the appropriate letter. Now enter the command icacls D: / grant: r username: F / t. Replace username with your account name.
