Despite all the variety of discrete and integrated sound card manufacturers, as well as the constantly expanding model range, the general data on driver installation will remain unchanged. Whether you have a professional sound card or a built-in one, or even connected via a USB interface, it doesn't change anything in the process. This is due to the fact that manufacturers deliberately unify the installation of drivers, making it more and more automated.

Instructions

Step 1

First of all, find out the manufacturer and type of your sound card, then download the latest driver for the board from its official website. Run the installation file with the extension Exe or Msi. If the driver is packed in a Zip or Rar archive, unpack it and run the installation of Setup.exe or Istall.exe files. Follow the instructions of the installation wizard, accept the license agreement, and specify the location on your computer where you want to install.

Step 2

Reboot the computer after the installation is complete, then check the driver's functionality and configure it according to your system configuration (number of speakers, headphones, microphone, etc.).

Step 3

If the driver you downloaded does not contain the Setup.exe or Istall.exe file, and all objects are opened in text format, right-click on the My Computer icon located on the desktop. Next, in the context menu, select "Properties", and in the next - "Advanced system settings-Hardware-Device Manager".

Step 4

Find your sound card in the Sound / Game / Video Devices tab. If it is not there, check it in the "Unknown hardware" tab. Right-click on the item responsible for the sound card and select "Update / Install driver".

Step 5

In the wizard that appears, click on "Install driver from a specified location" (it may say "Search in a specified location"). Specify the path to the folder into which the previously downloaded driver was previously unpacked, and click "Next".

Step 6

When the installation is complete, close the Update Installation Wizard and Device Manager. Restart your computer and complete the hardware setup.

Step 7

If this installation method did not give any results, repeat steps 1 through 4. Then, in the window that appears, click on the item "Select a driver yourself" ("Manual installation"). Next, select the manufacturer of the sound card and its model, and then click "Next". When finished, reboot the system.
