Sound problems can arise both after installing a new operating system, and due to the conflict of some programs with the sound card driver. If for some reason you have lost sound on your computer, and you are sure that the problem is in the sound card driver, you should follow a few simple steps.
Instructions
Step 1
Download the latest sound card driver for your computer model. To do this, you need to identify the manufacturer in order to know which site to look for the driver. If you have a laptop, go to the manufacturer's website and, choosing your model, download the driver. If you have a desktop computer with an integrated sound card, look for a motherboard manufacturer and select a driver for your motherboard model. If you have a separate sound card, check the manufacturer's website for the sound card model and find the correct driver. The driver must not only match the model of your laptop, motherboard or sound card, but also match the operating system installed on your computer.
Step 2
After the driver is loaded, you should uninstall the existing driver. To do this, open the "Start" menu - "Control Panel" - "System" and go to the "Hardware" tab and then "Device Manager". Select a sound card from the list and by right-clicking on it, go to "Properties" and then "Uninstall driver".
Step 3
When the old version of the driver has been removed, go back to the "Properties" of the sound card and select "Install driver" or "Update driver". The "Installation Wizard" will open and you will only have to follow its prompts, as well as specify the folder in which the previously downloaded new driver is located. This will install the sound card driver.
