Instructions

Step 1

Click the "Start" button to bring up the main menu of the system and go to the "Control Panel" item to perform the operation of increasing the paging file in the Windows Vista operating system.

Step 2

Expand the "System" link and select the "Advanced system settings" item in the list on the left side of the application window.

Step 3

Click the Advanced tab in the System Properties dialog box that opens and select Options in the Performance group.

Click the Advanced tab of the new Performance Options dialog box and select Modify under the Virtual Memory node.

Step 5

Specify the selected disk to place the paging file in the Disk group of the next Virtual Memory dialog box and use the Custom Size check box to manually select the desired initial and maximum paging file sizes.

Step 6

Enter the required values for the initial and maximum paging file virtual memory sizes and click OK to apply the selected changes. It is recommended that the initial and maximum file sizes be equal.

Step 7

Select the System Selected Size option to automatically determine the size of the swap file, or use the No paging file check box to disable the selected system function.

Step 8

Click the "Set" button to complete the process of editing the paging file sizes and confirm your choice by clicking the OK button.

Step 9

Press the OK button again to execute the command and confirm the application of the selected changes by pressing the OK button again.
