There are times when a BIOS update is required. The most popular way to update the BIOS is by creating a bootable floppy disk. But the days when FlopyDisk was installed on every computer are long gone. And a floppy disk as a storage medium is very unreliable and outdated. How, then, to update the BIOS if the computer does not have FlopyDisk.
Necessary
Computer, flash drive, TuneUp_Utilities program, Internet access
Instructions
Step 1
Look at the name of the motherboard that is installed on the computer. You can find out which motherboard is installed on your PC by looking at the technical documentation that you received when you bought your computer. If there is none, then it is best to download a program that will show information about all the equipment on the computer.
Step 2
Download TuneUp_Utilities, install the program. After installation, go to the "System" section and select the "Motherboard" item. Write down the name of the motherboard and the manufacturer. The first line - this will be the manufacturer, the rest is the model of the motherboard.
Step 3
Go to the manufacturer's official website. On the manufacturer's website, search for the name of the motherboard model. The system will give full information about it and show a list of utilities, programs and updates that are available for this motherboard. You are looking for BIOS updates. Download this update to your computer. Usually such files are downloaded in an archive. Unpack the archive. You must delete all information from your flash drive. It's also best to format it for reliability. Write the file that you received from the archive to a blank USB flash drive. Insert it into your computer.
Step 4
Now restart your computer and press the DEL key all the time. This operation will take you to the BIOS menu. Using the arrows on the keyboard, since the mouse does not work here, select the "TOOLS" section. Here select the "EZ Flash" section. The section does not have to have the exact same name, but the word Flash must be present. If the partition does not exist, then the motherboard does not support upgrading using a flash drive. This is usually the case with fairly old computer models.
Step 5
In the EZ Flash section, select the BIOS file that is written to the USB flash drive and press "Enter". BIOS is updated. Then the computer will restart. BIOS updated.
