Updating Avira even in a test version includes not only adding new data on malicious programs to the anti-virus database, but also upgrading the program itself. The update procedure can be performed both automatically on a regular basis and manually, that is, at the request of the user. The anti-virus has a simple interface in Russian, so it will not be difficult to find options for launching updates.
Instructions
Step 1
Right-click the program icon in the notification area of the taskbar (tray). In the context menu that appears, select the line "Start update". This is the fastest way to launch an antivirus update.
Step 2
Double-click the Avira tray icon to open a separate window with the antivirus control panel. By default, the options of the "Status" section of the "Overview" section will be loaded into this window. The third line contains information about the status of the automatic update system (enabled or disabled), the date of the last update and the link "Start update". Click this link to start the update procedure immediately. The F9 hotkey is assigned to this operation - instead of clicking on the link, you can use it as well.
Step 3
Expand the "Update" section in the antivirus control panel menu. It contains three commands related to the Avira update. To initiate an immediate online update process, select the "Start update" line. The choice of the third line in this section ("Run product update") will have the same effect.
Step 4
Click the second line ("Manual update") in the "Update" section if you have the vdf_fusebundle.zip archive containing the latest data for the anti-virus database. The program will open a dialog box in which you need to find this file on your computer and click the "Open" button.
Step 5
Click the "Settings" link in the upper right corner of the control panel window if you want to activate one of the options for automatic updating of the antivirus. The settings management tools will open in a separate window.
Step 6
Expand the "Update" section in the left column and select the "Product Update" line. In the right column of this section, you can choose one of three automatic update schemes or disable it. Each of the options has a completely understandable wording, and when you hover over it, an additional description appears at the bottom.
Step 7
If you have the automatic option enabled, then you will be notified of the next update only by the information window that pops up for a short time in the notification area. When updating manually, the antivirus will show the progress of the process in a separate window, which will automatically close 10 seconds after the completion of the process.
