The search string is the text string in the upper right corner of the browser window, in particular Firefox. It provides the ability to conduct searches in various search engines. When you enter a query in the search bar, the search engine used is displayed in the list on the left, and the search results are displayed in the right pane of the browser window.
Instructions
Step 1
Click the "Start" button to enter the main system menu and go to Firefox.
Step 2
Configure the program display options. To do this, follow these steps.
Step 3
Open the main browser window and move the mouse cursor over the space between the search and address bars to resize the search bar.
Step 4
Wait until the cursor turns into a double-headed arrow. Use the left mouse button to move the left / right arrow to lengthen / decrease the search string.
Step 5
Call the drop-down menu by clicking on the arrow icon to the left of the search window to select a search engine. By default, Firefox includes: - Google - for searching in the Google system;
- Yandex - for searching through Yandex:
- Ozon - to search in the Ozon.ru store;
- Price.ru - to search for goods and services through Price.ru;
- Wikipedia - for searching in Russian Wikipedia:
- Mail.ru - for searching through Mail.ru;
- Yandex dictionaries - to search Yandex dictionaries.
Step 6
Select the desired search engine from the list of proposed ones.
Step 7
Click on the search engine icon and select Manage Search Engines to add the desired search engine to the list.
Step 8
Click the "Plugins for other search engines …" button to view the suggested options and select the one you want.
Step 9
Click the "Add to Firefox" button to bring up the program download window.
Step 10
Select "Start using it now" to apply the changes made immediately.

Click the Add button to complete the operation.

Click the "View" button on the browser menu bar and go to the "Toolbar" item to remove the search string.
Step 13
Select Customize and wait for the Customize Toolbars window to appear.

Drag the "Search Bar" element with the mouse out of the "Customize Toolbar" window.

Click the "Finish" button to confirm your choice.
