In many cases, local networks are created for the rapid exchange of information between the devices that make up their composition. Modern operating systems and additional programs thoroughly protect the PC from external threats.
Instructions
Step 1
Turn on the computer you want to access. After the operating system has finished loading, turn off the firewall if you are using this utility. Some modern anti-virus programs have a built-in feature to restrict connections. Disable the internal antivirus firewall.
Step 2
Find and disable Windows Firewall. Open the "Administrative Tools" menu, and select "Services". Find the Windows Firewall utility among the other running processes. Click on it with the right mouse button and select "Disable". If you need to keep this state of the firewall, then go to the properties of this service.
Step 3
Find the Startup Type field and select Disabled. Now this service will be started only after changing its settings. Open the Network and Sharing Center. Go to the Change Advanced Sharing Settings menu.
Step 4
Indicate the profile that is currently active. Check the box next to Enable Network Discovery. This is a prerequisite for the availability of the computer. Select the parameters for the operation of this PC on the network. Activate or deactivate the ability of other users to use the printer connected to this computer.
Step 5
Select the option to work with public folders. To protect your computer from external threats, it is recommended to enable the "Sharing with password protection" function. Activating it will prevent unwanted connections to your PC. If you want to create your own guest account, through which people will connect to your PC, then select "Use user accounts and passwords."
Step 6
Save the protection settings of your computer. Be sure to periodically check active sessions to prevent unwanted attempts to connect to it.
