Every day there are more and more options for connecting to the Internet through a Wi-fi router. This allows multiple users to use the same Internet channel wirelessly. For the administrator, there is a need to view the available computers on the network, diagnose their connection and monitor.
Instructions
Step 1
To view the connections available in the network environment, just go to the corresponding menu item, where computers behind the router will be shown ("Start" - "My Computer" - "Network" item in the lower left part of the window). However, in some cases, only a single computer is displayed. To display other connections with the router, you need to configure some system parameters.
Step 2
Look at the status of the Computer Browser service in the Services menu. To do this, in the "All Programs" window of the "Start" menu, enter "Services" and select the found application in the search results. In the window that appears, find the name of the required service and check its status through the corresponding column. If the parameter is disabled, then right-click on the line with the service and click "Start".
Step 3
If you have a firewall installed on your system, then check if NetBios is prohibited. To do this, use the settings item of your software. If the value is "Disable" or "Deny", then set the parameter that allows its use.
Step 4
To exchange information between computers in a working local network, you need to configure and enable the DHCP server on the router and make sure that it issues the correct addresses to all devices. Check if the internet is working on all computers.
Step 5
Open IE browser and go to the "Tools" - "Internet Options" tab. Go to the "Security" menu item and for "Local intranet" select the lowest security level for the zone. In the "Trusted sites" list, write down the addresses of the DHCP hosts and save all settings.
Step 6
Restart computers and go to My Network Places, where you will see the computers on the network and all folders and printers to which you have access.
