Modern printers and MFPs, unlike their old counterparts, are adapted to connect to laptops and other types of mobile computers. To configure printing devices, you need to use additional utilities or operating system tools.

Instructions
Step 1
Connect the printer to a desktop or mobile computer. To complete this process, you need a USB to USB B cable. Turn on your computer and printing device. Wait for the hardware download to complete.
Step 2
Install the correct drivers for your printer model. It is best to use a special program that allows you to change the parameters of the printing device.
Step 3
If after performing this process the printer was not recognized by the system, add a new device yourself. Open the start menu and go to the control panel.
Step 4
Click on the "Printers and other devices" icon. In the new menu, select the "Printers and Faxes" sub-item. Now left-click on the icon of the desired printer. In this case, you must be guided by the model name of the printing device. Follow the link "Installing the device".
Step 5
In the first window of the dialog box, select the type of printer access. If you want to use this hardware only from this computer, select the Local Printer option. Click "Next".
Step 6
In the next window, select the port through which you connected the printer. It is important to note that you only need to specify the type of port (USB), and not select a specific slot number. Wait a while for the device to be detected by the system.
Step 7
Close the Add Printer Wizard. Open the program that you installed with the drivers. Configure the settings for the printing device. To do this, select the ink consumption mode, activate the desired print modes and specify the page orientation (portrait or landscape).
Step 8
If you are using custom paper for printing, be sure to specify the type. This will improve the quality of the printer.
