There is a category of people who have long abandoned televisions in favor of computers. Modern technologies allow you to easily watch television channels using the system unit and monitor.

TV tuner
Instructions
Step 1
To connect a satellite dish to a computer system unit, you will need a TV tuner. These devices are divided into two types, which differ in the way they are connected to a computer. There are external TV tuners that plug into the USB port, and internal ones that plug into the PCI slot of the motherboard.
Step 2
Get the tuner you like. Connect it to the system unit. Install the software for this hardware. It is usually supplied with a tuner. Connect a regular indoor antenna to the TV tuner and make sure it works properly.
Step 3
Install a satellite dish. Connect it to the receiver. This device is designed to transcode the signal received by the antenna into a format familiar to the TV.
Step 4
Connect the TV tuner to the receiver. To do this, use a regular antenna cable. Run the program you installed to use the TV tuner. Activate channel search. Adjust advanced settings such as brightness, clarity, signal type and quality.
Step 5
If you did everything correctly, then you can already watch TV channels from your computer. But there is one caveat: there is no guarantee of the presence of sound.
Step 6
If you purchased a TV tuner with a USB connector, then you need to configure the parameters of your sound card so that it outputs the signal received by the TV tuner to your speakers. The disadvantage of this method is that the sound will be transmitted to the speakers either from the computer or from the tuner.
Step 7
If you are dealing with an internal tuner, then the sound tuning can be done mechanically. The set with the device must have a cable, on both sides of which there is an audio jack (3.5 mm like headphones and speakers). Connect one end of this cable to the Out port of the TV tuner and the other to the In port of your sound card. An obvious plus of this connection is that you can simultaneously output an audio signal from both a TV tuner and a computer.
