Working with graphics, the user may be faced with the question of how to make the picture large. It is necessary to clearly distinguish between two parameters: scale and size. In the first case, the enlarged image will be available only for the duration of viewing the drawing or photograph. In the second case, the characteristics of the graphic file itself change.

Necessary

  • - a program for viewing images;
  • - graphics editor.

Instructions

Step 1

In order to make the picture larger when viewing, that is, to change the scale and see the details, it is enough to use the capabilities of any suitable application. For example, Windows has a built-in image and fax viewer. Or it could be a third party program like FastStone Image Viewer. Open the image with any similar program and select the Zoom tool. It has standard "+" and "-" buttons (closer and further) with a magnifying glass icon.

Step 2

If you need to increase the size of the image, use a graphics editor: from simple Paint from standard Windows programs to more complex ones - CorelDraw or Adobe Photoshop. The principle of operation in them is the same, only the items in the menu may differ.

Step 3

Start a graphics editor and open your image in it. To do this, select the "Open" command in the "File" menu or use the key combination Ctrl + O. In the additional window, specify the path to the folder in which the file with the picture is saved, click on its icon and when its name is copied into the "Name file ", click the" Open "button.

Step 4

Find "Picture", "Image" or Image in the editor menu and expand its submenu. Left-click on the item that, according to the logic, is more suitable for your task. So, in Paint it will be the "Attributes" command, in Adobe Photoshop - "Resize", a new window will open. Enter the new data you need in the appropriate units of measurement in the "Width" and "Height" fields and click on the OK or Apply button.

Step 5

Save the file with the new parameters. If you click the Save button, the file with the new image size will replace the original image. Selecting the Save as command will create a new file. Give it a name and choose a directory to save.
