There are two types of subtitles. External subtitles are a separate file that must be additionally connected in the player being used. Internal subtitles are completely embedded in the video track and are always displayed. They cannot be disabled. Special programs are used to create a built-in track.
Necessary
- - Subtitle Workshop;
- - Virtual Dub.
Instructions
Step 1
When creating subtitles, you can use the simple and lightweight Subtitle Workshop program. Download the distribution kit of the utility and install it following the instructions of the installer.
Step 2
Open the app. Create new subtitles using the "File" - "New Subtitles" menu. Open the video file in which you want to embed the text.
Step 3
During movie playback, wait until the frame appears where you want to insert the first subtitles. Stop playback and use the Forward and Backward buttons to adjust the frame you want. Each press of the button moves the slider by exactly half a second.
Step 4
Click on the Start Time button. This will set the time when the first subtitle should appear. In the "Text" field, enter the desired translation or comment. Left-click on the image to continue playback.
Step 5
Stop playback at the frame where the subtitle should change or disappear. Press the End Time key.
Step 6
Insert the next line for subtitles using the "Edit" - "Insert Subtitle" menu. You can use the Insert button on your keyboard.
Step 7
Repeat all the above operations to insert the rest of the subtitles.
Step 8
When finished, you can save your created subtitles as a separate.srt file. If you want to immediately embed the file into the video, then save it as "SubStation Alpha".
Step 9
Download Virtual Dub and plug in the Subtitler plugin. Place the downloaded extension file in the "plugins" folder of the program.
Step 10
Open the video you want in Virtual Dub and go to Video - Filters - Add - Subtitler. Click OK.
Step 11
In the pop-up window, select the saved subtitle file. The "Video" menu should be set to "Full processing mode".
Step 12
Save the created file using the "File" - "Save as" menu. As a result, you will receive a video with your embedded subtitles.
