Step 1
Find out the number of computers in the future local area network. This is a very important step, because based on the figure received, you need to purchase a router or switch.
Step 2
Buy a router that has slightly more LAN ports than the computers or laptops of the future LAN. The price and firm of the device do not play a special role. Also, do not spend money on purchasing a switch with managed ports - you do not need them.
Step 3
Install the router. In this case, be guided by its remoteness from all devices of the future network, as well as the presence of a 220 V outlet in the immediate vicinity.
Step 4
Connect laptops and computers to the router. To do this, plug one end of the network cable into the LAN port of the router, and the other into the network adapter of your computer.
Step 5
Go to the local network settings. Select TCP / IPv4. Enter the IP addresses, which will differ from each other by only the fourth value. This is a very important step in configuration, because if the computers are given incorrect IP addresses, the local network may become unstable or not work at all.
