Instructions

Step 1

Download and install Virtualdub software.

Step 2

Start Virtualdub. Click the "File" button in the window that appears, which is located in the upper left corner. In the menu that appears, select the first line "Open video file". In the explorer window, find the file with the movie that you would like to reduce, click on it, and it will be displayed in the working window of Virtualdub.

Step 3

Click on the "Audio" button and select the "Compression" command. In the menu with codecs that opens, select MPEG layer 3, and in the window on the right, check the line 32kBit / s 22 050Hz S Mono. Then click on "OK".

Step 4

Get started on the image. Click on the "Video" button and select the "Compression" button in the window that appears. If the "Compression" button is not active, then you must first click on the "Fast recompression" line, and then on "Compression". In the window that appears, select the Microsoft MPEG 4 VideoCodec V2 codec and click "Change".

Step 5

Change the parameters in the new window that opens. For example, move the first "Quality" slider to 50, and set the second "Bitrate" slider to 1800 or slightly less. After completing all the necessary changes, click "OK". Close the previous window in the same way.

Step 6

Save the reduced movie file. To do this, click on "File", find the line "Save AVI" and click on it. The window will re-open, containing the lines "File name" and "File type". Remove from the line "File name" the inscription that is there now. This is usually the name of your compressed movie, but this name must be replaced or the file will not be saved. Write any word or just add a couple of letters or numbers to the old name and click on "Save".

Step 7

After completing the save process, which may take several minutes, you can check the result of your work. Click on the movie file with the right mouse button and select "Properties" from the menu that appears. Notice that the number next to the word "Size" has decreased significantly.
