In some cases, you can find out the video resolution without even opening the video file itself. Right-click on the video file for which you want to know the resolution. In the menu that appears, select "Properties". In the window that appears, click on the "Details" tab. A window will pop up, in which you should find the "Video" section. In this section, find the components, namely the frame width and frame height. This is the resolution of the video file. For example, if the width of the frame is 512, and the height is 288, then its resolution is 512 by 288.
