Step 1
In some cases, you can find out the video resolution without even opening the video file itself. Right-click on the video file for which you want to know the resolution. In the menu that appears, select "Properties". In the window that appears, click on the "Details" tab. A window will pop up, in which you should find the "Video" section. In this section, find the components, namely the frame width and frame height. This is the resolution of the video file. For example, if the width of the frame is 512, and the height is 288, then its resolution is 512 by 288.

If the "Details" line does not display the resolution of this video file, you will have to use another method. Download the KLiteCodecPack codec set and install it on your computer. The set of codecs includes a set of additional video players and utilities.
Step 3
Select the video file you need by right-clicking on it. Then move the cursor to the line "Open with". In the window that appears, select Media Player Classic, and the File component at the top of the toolbar. Then, in the menu that opens, select the Properties line, and then click on the Details tab. Next, find the Video size label. Opposite this line is information about the resolution of the video file.
Step 4
Another way to find out the video resolution is directly from the video player itself. In different video players, this function may be located in different sections of the menu. A very convenient and functional player - KMPlayer. Download and install it on your computer. At the first start, select the interface language. After installing this player, it will be used by default for almost all video files.
Step 5
Open the desired video file. Right-click on the player window. In the menu that appears, select "Recording Information". In the window that opens, find the Width and Height indicators, where Width is the width and Height is the height of the file.
