The system message about the possible corruption of the user profile is unpleasant because all user data in the "My Documents" folder and the local settings of Internet Explorer and Outlook Express become unavailable. However, in most cases, only the profile settings are lost, and access to user information can be restored.
Instructions
Step 1
Click the "Start" button to bring up the main menu and go to "Control Panel".
Step 2
Select User Accounts and Parental Controls and select User Accounts.
Step 3
Open "Account Management" and enter the computer administrator password in the corresponding prompt field.
Step 4
Click the "Create Account" button and enter the name of the new user. Select the desired user type and click the Create Account button.
Step 5
Exit the application and log out. Please log in again as a user other than the account you just created and not matching the corrupted profile.

Click the "Start" button to bring up the main menu and go to "Documents".
Step 7
Specify the "Folder Options" item in the "Service" menu (if you cannot display the "Service" menu, use the ALT function key).
Step 8
Select "Show hidden files and folders" in the "View" tab and uncheck the "Hide protected system files" box. Click OK to confirm your choice.
Step 9
Go to the folder C: Users old username, where C is the drive containing Windows.
Step 10
Select "Paste" from the "Edit" menu and close all applications.
Step 11
Log out and log in again as the created user.
Step 12
Import the addresses and e-mails into the new profile you created. You can then delete the old corrupted profile. An alternative way to recover the corrupted user profile is to use System Restore.
Step 13
Specify the last restore point that was created before the profile corruption warning was received and apply the changes. Note that all user accounts on the computer will be "reverted".
