There is good news for those people who still keep old videotapes. Recordings from these media can be digitized and stored on a hard disk or other storage devices. Naturally, this requires the presence of certain equipment.
It is necessary
- - video recorder;
- - TV tuner.
Instructions
Step 1
Use a TV tuner as the main adapter for connecting your VCR to your computer. In this case, it doesn't matter what type of device you use. The main requirement for the tuner is the presence of ports for receiving video signals.
Step 2
Connect the TV tuner to your computer. If you are using an internal device, install it in the PCI slot of the motherboard. Use the USB port to connect an external tuner.
Step 3
Now connect your VCR to your TV tuner. To do this, use cables of the RCA-RCA format ("tulip"). Be sure to connect the audio cable to the TV tuner.
Step 4
Turn on your computer and install a program designed to work with a TV tuner. Consider one feature: if the functionality of the selected utility does not allow capturing an image transmitted to the display, install an additional program, for example Fraps.
Step 5
Adjust the settings for the TV tuner. When choosing the resolution of the saved video stream, use the values 640x480 or 800x600. Setting a higher resolution will not improve the quality of the video, but will only increase the file size.
Step 6
Prepare your computer and operating system for video recording. Disable all third-party apps and programs. Adjust the sound scheme so that no unwanted signals are generated during movie playback. Pay special attention to programs that are capable of pop-up windows.
Step 7
Turn on the VCR and insert the desired cassette into the deck. Start video playback with the capture software enabled. Press the desired keyboard shortcut to start recording. Wait for the playback to finish and stop the program.
