The default Windows GUI desktop background that is installed with the operating system can be changed in almost any version of the operating system. Even in those that, at the behest of Microsoft, do not support such an option. Depending on the OS version, the methods of replacing the "wallpaper" will differ - in some it is enough to select an item in the context menu, in others you will have to install or use additional programs one-time.
Instructions
Step 1
If the wallpaper you want to install is posted on the Internet, the easiest way to solve the problem is to use the appropriate browser option. To do this, load a full-size picture into its window - usually this is done by clicking on the thumbnail image of the desired wallpaper option. Then right-click the full image and select the desired item from the drop-down context menu. It is worded slightly differently in different browsers - in Opera this command is called "As desktop image", in Internet Explorer - "Set as background", in Mozilla Firefox - "Set as desktop background".
Step 2
In the browsers Google Chrome and Apple Safari, there is no such item in the pictures menu, so use a similar option of the operating system. To do this, first save the full image to your computer, then using the "Explorer", which is called by pressing the Win + E keys, go to the picture folder and right-click on it. In the pop-up menu, the desired item is named "Set as the background image of the desktop" - select it.
Step 3
The file with the wallpaper stored in the computer can also be made a background image through a special applet in the control panel - in the latest versions of Windows it is called “Personalization”. To launch it, right-click on an existing desktop picture and select the "Personalization" line from the menu. Under the table with theme icons in the window of the applet that opens, there is also a picture with the signature "Desktop background" - click on it and a page with a table of background images options known to the system will be loaded into the same window. To add your own files to it, click the "Browse" button, in the dialog that opens, specify the folder in which they are stored and click OK. Then select the icon of the desired picture in the changed table, in the "Position of the image" field, set the parameters for its placement on the desktop and click "Save changes".
Step 4
If your version of the OS has the function of replacing the background image disabled, use one of the specialized programs. The link to the download page for one of the simplest and free utilities of this kind is given below. It is called Starter Wallpaper Changer, does not require installation and does not constantly hang in the computer's RAM, gnawing off processor resources. Using the utility is very simple - launch it, click the Browse button, find the required photo wallpaper file in the standard dialog and click "Open". Then click on the Apply button and after the next boot of the operating system, the background image of the desktop will change.
