The System Configuration Utility is designed to change the boot parameters of the Microsoft Windows operating system, configure the multi-boot loader, and manage startup programs.
Instructions
Step 1
Click the "Start" button to bring up the main system menu and go to "Run" to launch the system setup application.
Step 2
Enter the value msconfig in the "open" field and click the Ok button to execute the command.
Step 3
Go to the "General" tab in the program window that opens and select the "Normal startup" option to load all device drivers and start all services.
Step 4
Specify the Diagnostic Start option to load only core drivers and start core services.
Step 5
Use the Selective Startup option to boot the Windows operating system using essential services and drivers, as well as user-selected services and automatically loaded programs.
Step 6
Click the Boot tab and select the Safe Mode: Minimal option to boot Windows Explorer in Safe Mode, starting only the most essential system services.
Step 7
Specify Safe Mode: Another Shell to load the command line in Safe Mode.
Step 8
Use the Safe Mode: Active Directory Restore option to load only the required Active Directory directory services.
Step 9
Select "Safe Mode: Networking" to add the required network components to the boot.
Step 10
Specify No GUI to boot the system without displaying a splash screen.
Step 11
Use the Boot Log item to save the boot data to the% SystemRoot% Ntblog.txt file.
Step 12
Select Baseline Video to load standard VGA drivers instead of display drivers.
Step 13
Select OS Information to display the names of the loaded drivers.
Step 14
Use the "Make these boot parameters permanent" option to prevent the selected changes from being rolled back.
Step 15
Click the Services tab and select the Do not show Microsoft services check box to display only third-party services.
Step 16
Go to the Startup tab and uncheck the boxes for the applications you selected to exclude from system startup.
