If the software and capabilities of the router do not allow you to change its settings wirelessly, you only need to protect the access point. If such a possibility is provided by the manufacturer, it is imperative to set a password to access the equipment.
Step 2
Let's first learn how to create a wireless access point with the ability to connect to the Internet. Connect the router to your computer via the LAN port. Use an ordinary twisted pair for this. Connect the device with an internet access cable.

Open a browser and enter the IP address of the router in the address bar. You will see a window for entering the settings menu. Enter your factory login and password. Open the Internet Setup menu. Set the values for the required parameters. They are usually identical to the settings for a direct Internet connection from a computer.

Proceed to the item "Security settings". Enter a new account name and password for it. Save the settings.

Go to the Wireless Setup menu. Give your network a name and password. Before doing this, you need to select the type of data and radio signal encryption. It is recommended to use WPA-PSK or WPA2-PSK encryption types, because they are the most efficient in protecting the access point from illegal intrusion. They require an eight-digit password. Better to use a combination of numbers and Latin letters.

Save the settings and reboot the router. Now, to change the settings of this equipment, an attacker will first have to guess the password for the wireless access point, and then the login and password to enter the router settings menu.
