Modern local area networks have several degrees of protection. It is necessary to use exactly those settings that will ensure the maximum security of your computer network.

Step 1
If you need to protect a wireless network built using a Wi-Fi router, then configure this device. Select any computer connected to the network and launch an internet browser. Enter the IP address of the router to enter its settings menu. Go to Wireless Setup.

Select the type of wireless security that is most relevant to you. Use quality security protocols such as WPA2-Personal. Now set a password by entering it in the Password field. Don't use a light password. Ideally, it should consist of a combination of numbers, Latin letters and special characters.
Step 3
Check the box next to Hide SSID. This is necessary to hide the broadcast of the access point. Now you will be able to connect to your network only after creating a new wireless connection by entering the correct access point name and password. Save the parameters of the Wi-Fi router and reboot it.
Step 4
If you need to ensure the security of computers connected to a wired network, then configure the settings for each PC. Open Control Panel and go to the Network and Sharing Center. Locate the "Change advanced sharing options" menu in the left column and open it. Select the profile you are currently using, for example "General". Activate the "Enable Network Discovery" item. Scroll down the page and find the "Enable password protected sharing" option.
Step 5
Click the Save Changes button and restart your computer. Now create a new user by disabling administrator functions. Be sure to set a password for this account. Now, to connect to this PC, you need to use the name of this user and the set password. Configure the other computers in the same way. It is better to use identical names and passwords to make them easier to remember.
