Setting up an automatic connection to the Internet makes the connection process easier and makes working on the network more convenient. The procedure is performed using standard Windows OS tools and does not require the installation of additional programs.
Instructions
Step 1
Call the main system menu of Windows version 7 by clicking the "Start" button and go to the "Run" dialog. Enter the value regedit in the "Open" line and authorize the launch of the "Registry Editor" utility by clicking the OK button.
Step 2
Expand the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentversionRun branch and open its context menu by right-clicking it. Specify the "New" command and select the "String parameter" option.
Step 3
Enter an arbitrary value in the Parameter Name line and type rasdial connection_name account_name password_value in the Value field. Exit the editor utility and restart your computer to apply the changes made (for Windows 7).
Step 4
Return to the main system menu "Start" to perform an alternative operation of setting up an automatic connection to the Internet and go to the "Control Panel" item. Expand the "Network connections" link and select the "PPPoE connection" option. Call the context menu of the selected element by clicking the right mouse button and select the "Properties" item.
Step 5
Go to the "Options" tab of the dialog box that opens and uncheck the box in the "Prompt for name …" line. Confirm saving of changes by clicking OK and re-invoke the context menu of the element by clicking the right mouse button. Specify the command "Create shortcut" and place it in the "Startup" folder.
Step 6
Return to the "Parameters" tab of the PPPoE connection properties dialog box and use the checkbox in the "Call back on disconnection" line to restore the broken connection automatically. Authorize the application of the changes made by clicking the OK button.
