Sometimes you may need to quickly find a phrase or word in a text document. Naturally, it is unnecessary to read the entire text, especially if it is very long, because Microsoft Word has a very convenient search function.

Necessary

  • - Microsoft Word program;
  • - a document in which you want to find a given word.

Instructions

Step 1

Open a text document in which you need to find a specific phrase or word. On the top toolbar, open the Edit menu. Click on the corresponding button and in the drop-down window click on the link with the inscription "Find" (or use the keyboard shortcut: to search for the desired word in the text, press the Ctrl and F buttons simultaneously). Click on the link and in a new window that opens, in a blank line, write the word that you are going to search for.

Step 2

Put a tick in the box opposite the inscription "Select all elements found in.." and below, in the drop-down window, set the search area, indicating exactly where you need to search for a word or phrase: in the entire main document, in the selected text fragment.

Step 3

There is a More button on the right side of the window. By clicking it, you can set additional search parameters. For example, here it is possible to specify the direction of the text by choosing the one you need: forward, backward, everywhere (by default, the entire document is indicated in the settings). Next, you need to note what exactly the search program should focus on while executing a query, for which you need to check the boxes next to the corresponding items: "case sensitive", "whole word only", "wildcards", "pronounced as", "all word forms ".

Step 4

In the Format section, specify additional search options. This way you can determine what type of font you need to search for, its size, style, boldness, etc. In addition, you can set additional formatting elements such as paragraph, tab, language, frame, style, highlighting.

Step 5

In the "Special" section you can focus your search on the presence of special characters and signs. Select the desired character from the list provided and add it to your search query.

Step 6

Then click the Find All button. To view all the words you are looking for, click the Next button.
