A combination of the Liquify filter with the Clone Stamp tool is suitable for straightening the teeth in the image. To always have the edited image at hand in its original form, all changes should be applied to a copy of the background layer.

Necessary

  • - Photoshop program;
  • - Photo.

Instructions

Step 1

Use the Open option of the File menu to load the image you are going to work with into Photoshop. Use the Ctrl + J keys to duplicate the only layer that the document currently consists of. Move the slider in the Navigator palette to the right to zoom in on the photo.

Step 2

Visible gaps between teeth or diagonal chips can be masked using the Liquify filter, which opens as an option from the Filter menu. With the Freeze Mask tool selected, paint over the lips in the photo with it. In this way, you can protect them from deformation.

Step 3

It makes sense to use Liquify to mask gaps in teeth if the area to be hidden is no more than a quarter of the width of the nearest tooth. Otherwise, the result of the work will not look natural. Before starting work, use the Freeze Mask tool to mask one of the teeth next to the gap to be corrected and the gap itself by half the width.

Step 4

Turn on the Forward Warp tool and configure its parameters in the Tool Options panel. Adjust the Brush Size so that the tool's brush is the size of one of the teeth near the defect to be masked. Set all other parameters to the maximum value. Place the cursor on a tooth free from the mask and slide it towards the gap.

Step 5

Use the Thaw Mask Tool to erase the mask from the tooth. Switch to Freeze Mask and paint over the area of the photo you just edited. Using the Forward Warp Tool, move the tooth from which you just removed the mask towards the gap. Having achieved an acceptable result, click on the OK button.

Step 6

Diagonal chips and large gaps between teeth can be corrected with the Clone Stamp tool. Use the Ctrl + Shift + N keys to paste a new layer on top of the image, on which the adjustment elements will be located, and in the tool settings, activate the Sample all layers option.

Step 7

Select an area of the photo, copying a part of which, you can close the defect. Click on the found area while holding Alt. Go to the editable section and draw the copied area over it. Since you are working on a new layer, nothing will prevent you from erasing unnecessary fragments if they appear from under the brush of the tool. Turn on the Eraser Tool and erase unnecessary parts of the picture.

Step 8

The chipped corner can be masked with a copy of the other half of the same tooth, reflected horizontally. Turn on the Lasso tool, outline the intact part of the photo and paste it on a new layer. Use the Flip Horizontal option in the Transform group of the Edit menu to flip the copied area. Use the Move Tool to move it to the desired place and, if necessary, erase unnecessary fragments.

Step 9

Save the retouched photo with the Save As option of the File menu.
