Recently, after restarting the computer, many users began to lose their "Desktop", the taskbar, the "Start" button and the system tray. Also, various keyboard shortcuts do not work. Only the combination Ctrl + Alt + Del works. When the "Task Manager" appears, explorer.exe is not found in the processes. This is caused by viruses. But viruses are not always to blame for everything. This can happen after an operating system crash as a result of improper shutdown of the computer, etc.
Instructions
Step 1
The very first thing you can try is to perform a "System Rollback". To do this, boot into Safe Mode. When turning on the computer, briefly press the F8 key on the keyboard and select "Safe Mode" in the selection window. In this mode, only the services necessary for Windows are loaded. Nothing extra is loaded.
Step 2
From the Start menu, select All Programs, then Accessories, then System Tools, and then System Restore. Select a restore point before the start menu disappeared. When finished, the System Restore utility will restart your computer.
Step 3
If System Restore doesn't work for you, try the following. Run the utility for editing the registry regedit.exe through the task manager. Find and delete the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / SOFTWARE / Microsoft / WindowsNT / CurrentVersion / Image File Execution Options / explorer.exe registry key. Next, restart your computer.
Step 4
If that doesn't help, try testing your computer using the free AVZ utility. Download a free and small utility AVZ from the Internet. Run it from any media and select "System Restore" from the "File" menu.
Step 5
In the window that opens with the name "Restore system settings" check all the boxes except "Automatic restore SPI / LSP settings". Next, you need to uncheck the box under “Reset SPI / LSP and TCP / IP settings”. Also uncheck the "Completely re-create SPI settings" checkbox.
