The word RIP means a copy of any digital material, most often illegal. In large quantities and in free download access "rips" are present on various Internet sites.
What are rips
In fact, RIPs are pirated products. Mostly on the Internet there are illegal copies of films and TV series, as well as music albums and various software. Usually, the submitted copy exactly repeats the contents of a CD or DVD disc with one or another type of product, which was purchased legally and subsequently "leaked" into the network. Rips of movies, which have several varieties, are becoming more widespread.
Types of rips
The most substandard copy of the film is Camrip. It is created directly in the cinema using a simple video camera, after which the person who made it uploads the recorded video to the network. In general, the image of Camrip is very cloudy, the sound is poorly distinguishable, and people are constantly walking in the background of the screen, who also distract with their conversations and coughs.
There are also fans of such rips, claiming that their advantage lies in their quick, almost simultaneous appearance on the network with the premiere, as well as in the effect of being in the cinema.
DVD-rip is a higher quality copy of a movie, which is a translation into a standard video format of the disc content, such as mkv or avi. It is convenient to upload recordings in this format to the network. These copies are usually of good quality and are almost identical to the quality of the DVD movie itself. There is also an official translation, five-channel or more sound. At the same time, copies remain illegal, since copying and distribution of this information is prohibited by law.
Copies of serials and television programs are called TV-rip. With the help of TV tuners and external recording devices, a series, match or show is recorded on TV during their broadcast, after which it is digitized into the desired format and laid out on the network. When editing, ad blocks and splash screens are removed from rips, so Internet users receive a final cleaned-up copy that can be watched at any convenient time and paused if necessary.
More advanced versions of digitized motion pictures and TV programs are called HDTV-rips, which are copies of the highest quality and resolution.
Copies of music and all other types of information are often referred to as Web-rip. Usually legal versions are available for review and download on the Internet after payment. Pirates acquire licensed copies and then post them on their sites for free download.
