Modern Windows operating systems have several modifications. As a rule, they differ only in the presence of several important options. Fortunately, there are several ways to update your Windows OS version.
Necessary
- - Windows Anytime Upgrade;
- - Windows boot disk.
Instructions
Step 1
The easiest, but far from the fastest, method of updating the version of the Windows system is to install the required assembly and remove the old OS. Use this option if you don't want to run into potential problems. Burn the system installation files to a DVD or purchase an original disc.
Step 2
Install the selected version of the operating system. In this case, you need to use the disk partition on which the old OS is already located. Also, be sure to format the system local drive.
Step 3
In the event that you want to completely preserve the current configuration of the operating system and do not want to reinstall the necessary programs, use a different algorithm of actions. Insert the Windows boot disk into the drive while you are using the operating system.
Step 4
After the autorun window appears, click the "Install" button. In the next dialog box, select the "Refresh" option. After a while, you will be presented with a list of available systems.
Step 5
Highlight the copy of Windows you are currently working with. Click the "Continue" button. This method of updating the assembly takes significantly less time compared to the original installation of the system. Note that the computer will restart 2 or 3 times during this process.
Step 6
The third way to upgrade the system is to use the Windows Anytime Upgrade application. Download it from the Microsoft website. Install the program.
Step 7
After starting Windows Anytime Upgrade, point to the copy of the operating system you want to upgrade. Select the version of the new OS. Remember that you will need a license key for the new version.
Step 8
Click the Update button and wait for the completed procedure to complete. As in the previous method, the computer will be restarted several times.
