If no one else uses the computer except you, or if you trust other users more than yourself, then there is no point in wasting time on “select a user” and “enter a password” each time you start it. The following describes how to disable the appearance of the standard user selection screen at boot.

Instructions

Step 1

If only one active user account is registered in your system and the password for it is not specified, then the login will be carried out automatically without additional settings. Therefore, one of the possible ways to solve the problem is to delete all users except one. But such a radical option is not desirable, since many programs use, for example, the ASP. NET framework, which automatically creates a separate hidden user on your system upon installation. Another method requires logging in with administrator rights. After entering, start the "Run the program" dialog - in the main menu (on the "Start" button) select the "Run" item or press the WIN + R key combination.

Step 2

In the input field, type (or copy from here and paste) "control userpasswords2" (without quotes) and press the "OK" button or press Enter. This command works the same in Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7. Alternatively, in Vista and Seven, you can use the "netplwiz" command (without quotes).

Step 3

This will open a window titled "User Accounts". You need to select the desired user in the list and uncheck the box next to the inscription "Require username and password", located above the list. Then click the "OK" button.

Step 4

After that, a window with the title "Automatic login" will open, where you need to enter the password and click the "OK" button. If the selected user account does not have a password, leave this field blank. This completes the automatic login setup.
